As noted, I’ve released an updated “Dream Requiem”, and I made the old one unavailable.  This one is better in almost every way.  I added instruments, moved stuff around to make a more coherent story, completely changed the ending, and added a bunch of stuff I really like.  i decided it needed to be updated as I’ve been taking composition lessons and learned how much I screwed up the first time.

Live and learn.

I like this much better.

I also changed from using Finale to Dorico.  I was pretty much forced to, as Finale was, for whatever reason, discontinued.  I’ve been using it on and off for like thirty years now, so I really didn’t want to change.  But I have to admit that Dorico is much better and easier to use in almost every way.  I bought noteperformer too, so everything’s just better.  Sometimes, but not all the time, change is a good thing.

I first used Finale in college in like 1994 – when the state of the art was dot matrix printers and floppy drives.  Sigh.  How much things have changed, and only sometimes for the good, right?

I also uploaded it to Musescore, and the honest truth is, I might be better off not doing that.  I have to import in using musicxml, and, well, it doesn’t work perfectly.  But truthfully, I don’t feel like maintaining the score on two separate platforms, especially because Musescore’s mp3 rendition is spectacularly inferior, so I’m just uploading it as is.  If it sounds bad, it sounds bad.  It’s available here and sounds a lot better.

I could never use Musescore as my primary composition software, unless I absolutely had to.  The only good thing is has going for it is the community where people can easily find your music.  But then what’s the point if it sounds awful anyway?  I may just take it down at some point, it may not be worth it.

Anyway, enjoy.  Now I have a much better product for no one to listen to.

I’m working on another piece now, and I hope to have it out by Christmas.  If not, it’ll be out when it’s out, but that’s my goal.  Don’t hold it against me if I don’t reach it, though, I do have other things going on as well.

Though considering the audience for my music can probably be counted on one hand, I don’t think I have anything to worry about.
