I am revisiting Dream Requiem before I do my next piece.

I’ve been taking some composition lessons, and there are some places where it could be improved, and a couple of flat out errors.

It was good for what it was – my first attempt at a piece, and it’s not bad.  I think it’s performable.  But I was relying too heavily on Finale’s playing/mix, and I missed a couple of things.  Because Finale has discontinued, I moved to Dorico with noteperformer, and I’m picking up a few things I don’t really like.  Also, there are some places where the orchestration is a bit wonky.  For example, places where a fuller chord would fit better than what I did.

Also, I’m adding a contrabass.  I think I want that fullness.  I’m also considering adding tubular bells, I really think those would add a lot to the piece.  And I’m not 100% happy with the ending, so I’m going to see what I can do to fluff that out a bit.

I’m not making any real structural changes.  I think the structure is fine.  It just needs a bit of reorchestration and a few harmonic/instrumentation tweaks.

Please look forward to it.  I will release it as a separate piece so you can see/hear the differences.
